sticky heat and days off

wow its gross hot outside, and inside in most of my house. though i put my air conditioner in on friday night, so its pretty cool in there, except the noise my AC makes kind of gives me odd nightmares about things growling at me and i end up not feeling good in the morning. which was alright today, because i didn't have to wake up at 6am and roll out of bed and go to work, because working 42 hours in four days leaves me with three days off in the middle of the week. i had considered an excursion to new york, the city and maybe out to the island to see a few people, but then i got a call last night requesting my presence in a completely different area of the fine state of new york. anthony called and asked me to accompany his dad to pick him up at school in elmira so that he would have someone to drive back with in his car. the fact that i hadn't talked to him since february was unsettling for about a minute, when i realized how much i missed him and had no problem agreeing to the trip. so tomorrow around noon i'll be grabbing a ride with Mr. Paravati up to elmira, it should be a pretty good trip. i still have off on thursday as well, though i'm probably just going to relax most of the day so i'm all ready for another weekend of ten hour shifts. i also bought new sneakers today finally, not the pumas i wanted, but some cute k swiss ones that will hold me over until i order my pumas, because my sketchers were giving my feet no support at all, and 42 hours in them this past weekend sort of felt like my feet were going to detach themselves from my ankles and start a picket line or something. otherwise i've just been having fun watching the phillies beat up on the nats and listening to alex's cd which is totally amazing and you should go to one of his shows so you can pick it up. i figure depending on my schedule next week i'll try to make it up to the city, then again i've been saying that for like a month and just keep putting it off, i suppose that'll make it that much better when i finally get there. oh yeah, and i saw X-Men 3 the last stand today, and it was AMAZING!!!! i still haven't seen the da vinci code, but i'll get there at some point i suppose. ok...i think i'm done rambling for now. have a good one.

its almost worth how tired i am.

so ten hour shifts are hellish, i've already said it, but they are now basically going to be my norm, so i'm learning to deal with it, and with all the almost totally screwing up and how extremely exhausting it is to be on your feet for almost 11 hours (see we have to get there early, but aren't allowed to clock in til 7:30am) there comes some smiles. like i have this patient who draws pictures on the back of his menu when he's bored, and when i went in to drop off his lunch he hadn't filled out his menu yet, and his mom was there, and i told him not to forget to draw me a picture, and i could tell he wasn't in a very good mood, but he said he'd try. and he did and he drew me like charlie brown and lucy, and it was really cute. stuff like that makes my day so much brighter and all the bullshit i deal with worth while. everyone at my job talks about eachother behind one another's back...i just sit and nod and listen...i have no desire to get involved in their petty gossip, i'm just trying to get along with everyone. if you haven't yet...go see over the hedge, because i saw it last weekend and it was so completely cute. i can't wait to go see xmen this week at some point (i'm off tuesday, wednesday and thursday) and i'd like to go see davinci code but my dad and louise went to see it yesterday so i don't know who i'd go with...(its times like this that it suck that all your friends live in other states basically). ok, well i'm really tired and have one more day of work to get through before my three days of rest and relaxation...goodnight.

the art of the spoken word

so yet another ten hour shift has passed, and i got much more sleep last night so it was definitely a bit better today than it was yesterday, also you have to build a tolerance to these things. today wasn't that bad, i had some really great perogies and some tasty oatmeal for breakfast. all and all the fact that i'll be clearing almost $400 when i get paid on thursday makes it all worth while.

the quote of the day came along when i was about to wrap silver ware to load the dinner carts. you know i have a pretty extensive vocabulary already, and general use it without realizing i'm with people who don't know what i'm saying...this wasn't even near the height of my skills either.
[we're out of forks]
Me: The fork situation appears a bit dismal.
Dyshaun ("D"): There ya go with the big words again, I seriously won't always be here to translate, you need to leave that shit at home. Just say, "we ain't got no forks."

man...it was pretty fucking funny. on any other note, we were serving some peaches tonight and i started singing the peaches song by presidents of the united states and no one around had ever heard of it. man that was very seventh grade in my world. speaking of seventh grade...my seventh grade science teacher i have now seen two days in a row, her mother in law is a patient in Moss Rehab and so i take her food in. its crazy to think about how long ago seventh grade was now...but that class is pretty memorable. it was the class where i became friends with uhl. where i once ran around the room with a leaf of lettuce screaming "LETTUCE ALL BE FRIENDS." where tom kelting flipped switch blade under the desk next to me and said, "hey look what i brought back from mexico." i wonder what ever happened to that kid. ok i'm going to stop before the chorus of "memories" gets stuck in my head for the rest of the night.

that's whats up. lol. oh and...FUCKING BREWERS MOTHER FUCKER!!!!! sorry had to get that out.

good at math

today i worked my first ten hour shift training to be hostess. the translation to this position is that you load the trucks for every meal and deliver trays to patients all day. i'm exhausted. but it was pretty good, i really like all the people that work during the day better than the kids that work during the evening. and my check next week is going to be huge...which means...new sneakers and a tattoo...with out a doubt. that's whats up man. lol that's like the thing Obed says all day long. the quote of the day also comes from Obed...
Obed: You're good a math? Here's one for ya: if you have four fish and three of them drown how many fish do you have?
[a beat passes]
Me: dude...fish can't drown...

after 5pm i was laughing at everything because i was really fucking tired. as i am right now. but i'm basically full time now, which is good. i'm going to try and get my dad to take me to tacobell or something. have a good one.

its days like today

...that make me seriously consider moving to indiana. because at least there i'd be getting laid.

here...this is the song that's been going through my head all day while i sat at the register and smiled placatingly at people.

There's a good reason these tables are numbered honey you just haven't thought of it yet.

Whoa, everything goes according to plan.

I am the new cancer, never looked better, you can't stand it.
Because you say so under your breath.
You're reading lips "When did he get at all confident?"

Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
Never looked better, and you can't stand it

Next is a trip to the, the ladies room in vain, and
I bet you just can't keep up (keep up) with these fashionistas, and
Tonight, tonight you are, you are a whispering campaign.
I bet to them your name is "Cheap", I bet to them you look like shit.

Talk to the mirror, choke back tears.
And keep telling yourself that "I'm a diva!"
Oh and the smokes in that cigarette box on the table,
they just so happen to be laced with nitroglycerin.

I am the new cancer, never looked better, you can't stand it.

And I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch.

i miss new york.
and pennsylvania sucks.
star wars books keep my boredom at bay.
and work is boring.
chase has my heart.
because no one wants it for real.
i'm thinking about flying to florida to hang out with joel.
because flying to kansas to hang out with erik costs more.
plus he works all the time anyway.
blah.

steriod to heaven

i would like to start by saying...i finally got to see the phillies win a game i went to last night, and it was amazing, also, chase's homerun...beautiful. but on to more interesting and entertaining matters. this weekend the phillies have been playing the giants...which of course means lots of booing barry bonds. i was sitting up in 206...right field a level up, not really my favorite place to sit (which btw is left field) but they were the only tickets we could get. so about the second inning a group of guys (one of them had been there since the begining of the game) sits down on the left side of me, in my row and the row above me. the one guy has brought with him cut out foam board letters, and a poster board with and asterick on it. so when bonds came up to bat it looked like this:

*
BONDS
so you get the asterick thing right? if you don't its like the one they put after Roger Maris' name when he broke Ruth's home run record in more games...which was later removed. after a few innings the guy next to me starts breaking a few of the letters apart, and i didn't get it at first so i asked him what was up. the letters he broke were the B and the N. because if you break the B you get an R and if you break the N you come up with an I. so for bonds' last at the guys held it up (along with another board they had) and it looked like this:
__
l
l__ ROIDS
l
l__
l
_______l

ok...so that's kind of a ghetto likeness...but you get the point. it was really funny...we all chanted STEROIDS STERIODS STERIODS...good times. anyway, the guy thought that it might check on to other places where the giants happen to play...so i told him i'd post about it on my blog, even though like three people read my blog...probably more like two now, but whatever. ok, well thats it for now, i'm going to go watch the game or pass out or something. (you don't need to hear about how much work sucks again).

nothing worth saying

i haven't had anything worth saying lately. i still probably don't. if you haven't yet, you have to check out amber pacific, because i'm obsessed with them. (i saw them last week, they were one of the opening bands for matchbook romance). yesterday i got my hair cut, really short, its pretty miranda-esque. its like short in the back and longer in the front...really cute...mara didn't like it...but then again, everything i do is "stupid white girl shit" according to mara. yesterday was also the arrival of my jason michaels indians t-shirt, and my ryan madson phillies shirt, which i was way excited about, plus we're going to the game tomorrow night and madson is pitching :). we're also going to the soul game tomorrow afternoon...i could really care less, but these things make my dad pretty happy. i was thinking of walking to the mall today, but i'm too lazy, i think i'll just wait til my dad gets home and see if we have time to run to borders before i have to go to work, because as soon as i finish Heir to The Empire, i'm going to need books, and i'm also in dyer need of burts bees lip balm. the next books on my reading list include:
Dark Force Rising- Timothy Zahn
The Last Command- Timothy Zahn
Practical Demon Keeping- Christopher Moore
Grapes of Wrath- John Steinbeck
Jitterbug Perfume- Tom Robbins

mara makes fun of me for reading too...i work with people with really low IQs. oh well. have a good day, and i'll attempt to get rid of the sick feeling in my stomach.
